HOW DOES BEPART WORK IN AUGMENTED REALTY?

Bepart allows you to watch any kind of multimedia (2D and 3D static and animated, video, animation, sounds) in Augmented Reality (AR). The app contains a display and a map. The display work as a camera with which, when framing the MARKER (also known as RAG), shows the actual multimedia files (contents). If the GPS is also active, the display gives the possibility to see the multimedia files that are covered in the radius of a specific coordinate. The person who downloads Bepart will be able to visualize the contents automatically.

CAN I SEE MY CONTENTS WITH ANY OPERATING SYSTEM?

Bepart is currently available Google Play Market and Apple Store and will be soon available also for Windows Phone.

HOW DO GPS CONTENTS WORK?

It is extremely easy: you only have to turn the GPS on, open the app and frame the content with your phone. If you are in the radius of the coordinate associated to the content, this will appear immediately.

WHAT’S A MARKER?

A MARKER is an image, a surface or an object that acts as an activator of Augmented Reality contents. It is similar to the QR concept: it is an image that, thanks to the contrasts and its own features, is recognized and scanned by Bepart, showing the specific content.

HOW MANY TYPES OF MARKERS EXIST?

Bepart uses two-dimensional Markers. If you think your contact should appear in any other format, please, contact us by sending an email to [email protected]
Here are some Marker examples:

  • Two-dimensional (2D images, paintings, panels, graffitti, etc).
  • Cylindrical (cans, bottles, etc).
  • Cone or truncated cone.
  • Parallelepiped (box, book, packaging, etc).
  • Any object made up by small dimension surfaces (gadget).

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES A GOOD MARKER SHOULD HAVE?

The Marker needs to have some elements of recognition to be able to be framed correctly. The main elements that increase the quality of the Marker are: complex composition and strong colors and contrasts.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES THAT A MARKER SHOULD NOT HAVE CARATTERISTICHE?

Some of the features that diminish the quality of the Marker are repeated identical elements, simplicity, weak colors and lack of contrast.

WHAT IS AN URBAN MARKER?

It is a picture of a place, a surface that allows the app to hold the content onto a specific location.

WHAT ARE MUST HAVE FEATURES OF AN URBAN MARKER?

  • Either front pictures or pictures from the prospective from which the content should be visualized.
  • DO NOT use zoom or wide-angles!
  • The surfaces must be easily recognizable by the app (for instance, coloured walls, street art, surfaces with strong contrast of colours or lights. A white wall will not work) and should be as two-dimensional as possible.
  • The buildings or surfaces should not change overtime (open – closed windows, doors, etc.). They should not have patterns nor reflective surfaces.

WHAT IS A GRAPHIC MARKER?

Any kind of image is subject to be a graphic Marker. To give some examples: pictures, designs, illustrations, paintings, designs on clothes, cover of books, magazines, CDs, etc.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES AN URBAN MARKER SHOULD HAVE?

The images or surfaces should have some particularities with some contrast elements to make them easy recognisible by the display.

WHICH TYPE OF CONTENTS ARE SUBJECT TO BE PUBLISHED IN BEPART?

Any kind of digital content is subject to be published. Either audio files, animations, 3D models, video an alpha video, images, interactions, permit a very diverse interpretation and are exportable to the requested formats.

IN WHICH FORMATS AND DIMENSIONS CAN I SEND THE DIGITAL CONTENTS?

  • Images (jpeg-png), size at will.
  • Audio (mp3, wav), size at will.
  • Video (mp4, m4v), size at will.
  • 3D Models (Obj, Fbx), see next question.
  • 3D animations (Fbx), see next question.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES THAT 3D STATIC MODELS AND ANIMATIONS SHOULD HAVE TO BE SUBJECT OF BEING PUBLISHED IN AUGMENTED REALITY IN BEPART?

Polygons: 15.000 max.
Textures: the models should have the least number of textures possible, ideally just one, for best results.
Mesh: it must not exceed 5000 polygons. The models should have the least number of meshes possible, ideally just one, for best results.
Normals: all the normal should be uniform. If the normal are towards the interior it is not seen by the application.
Export: use formats .fbx o .obj
Texturing and lighting:

  • The models should have the least number of textures possible, ideally just one, for best results.
  • Use Normal Maps (if required by content).
  • Use Lightmaps (if required by content).
Materials:
  • The models should have the least number of materials possible, ideally just one, for best results.
  • Use standard materials, do not use Vray/Arnold etc.

MY CONTENTS ARE NOT IN THE REQUIRED FORMATS AND I AM UNABLE TO EXPORT THEM. WHAT CAN I DO TO PUBLISH THEM IN BEPART?

Send an email to [email protected] with the link to your content. We will quickly assess how to convert them into the right format.

MISSINGI HAVE AN IDEA THAT COULD BE PUBLISHED BUT I AM NOT SURE OF HOW TO DEVELOP THE CONTENTS. WHAT CAN I DO?

Send an email to [email protected], describe your idea with a handmade drawing and the text you would like to include, if any. Production of contents is a service offered by Bepart: we will understand the techniques to be used and the costs. Do not hesitate to contact us! We will be in touch as soon as possible.

WHICH SENSORS OR PARTS OF THE DEVICES ARE USED BY BEPART?

In order offer the optimal experience the experience, Bepart used: gyroscope, accelerometer, touch effects, physical keys, soft keys, camera.

HOW DOES ASSISTANCE WORK?

Bepart team is ready to help you throughout the whole process of publishing your content. As soon as we receive you content and the proof of payment, all your material will be thoroughly assessed and analyzed. If you have chosen “Assistance” as the publishing modality, we will assess the optimal strategy for the publishing and diffusion of your content according to your specific requests. Use the field “SPECIFIC” to tell us about all the details that you wish to include in your installation. Once we will have finished this process, we will contact you immediately!

WHY CAN’T I PUBLISH MY CONTENTS DIRECTLY?

The contents will be published 30 days after we have received them. The process takes some time as the content needs some processing, optimization, anchorage and testing. Bepart guarantees the highest quality in the publishing of your content. In a near future, all these processes will be automated.

WHY DO I NEED TO PAY TO PUBLISH MY CONTENTS?

The contents will be published 30 days after we have received them. In this period, we will work to create content in augmented reality with the best quality available. The prices are the minimum we can offer to guarantee the sustainability of Bepart Società Cooperativa Impresa Sociale – a nonprofit organization – and its team. We endeavour to be able to publish your content at the lower cost possible.
